For those of you not attending the Red Sox game on Thursday (9/24), I’m hosting a PUB RUN at Popular Pizza, 24 Olney Street, in Seekonk. It will be a flat 4.5 mile run starting at 6:30pm. I’m hoping to get everyone in before it gets dark out. Popular Pizza is in the Briarwood Plaza so there’s plenty of parking.
On a day when justice in football prevails, it’s exciting to support a race where justice will prevail… from the ashes, and through the unjust turmoil in Newport arises the new incarnation of the Ocean State Rhode Race…
The Rhode Island Road Runners have a long history with the Ocean State Marathon… volunteers from RIRR were there way back when it started more than 20 years ago. And while the Ocean State Rhode Race has been on hiatus, RIRR has not. Well its back and we’re planning to return to it as stewards of the runners as both pacers in the full and the half and with a water stop. On Sunday 11 October, from Narragansett Town Beach, we hope to field pacers for the full marathon – in pairs, with one pacer completing the first half and passing to a second to bring back to the finish) with finish times of 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, and 4:30. So cut those times in half and we need 2 runners to be at 1:37.5, 1:45, 1:52.5, 2:00, 2:07.5, and 2:15. If we fill those squads, then we will look to lead pace groups in the half as well for times of 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, and 2:30. Lastly, how about some runner support starting with a water stop captain to lead them?
